Who Am I?

Dear District 5 Arcadia Resident, My name is Jolly Wu.  I am running for city council in District 5. Unlike others, I am the only self-funded candidate and do not accept any special interest group or individual donations. Once elected, I will not have any obligation to any group or person. I will be able to completely concentrate on making Arcadia a safe, healthy, and happy community.

In 1986, after I finished my pharmacy education in Taiwan, I joined my family and started my pharmacy education in the US.

In 1990, I started to work as a Clinical Pharmacist in a hospital.

In 2000, I moved into the city of Arcadia.

For the last several years, I have worked with County Park and Recreation officials and with county supervisors’ help to improve access for disabled and elderly people at the Los Angeles Arboretum

I also regularly participated in Congressman David Dreier’s  home town meetings as a voice for the Arcadia residents.

I have advocated for safe and smooth sidewalks for the residents on Live oak Ave. Las Tunas Ave., Baldwin Ave., and in the Foothill Blvd. business districts.

In recent years, I have dedicated myself to improve our transit systems and making Dial-A- Ride for residents only.

In addition, I have joined with NHI scientists, scientist from all over the US,  and with state, county, and local officials in a 2 day Nutrition Science and Food Policy summit.

With the increasing crime rate in Arcadia and increasing taxes, I decided to be self-funded in this election.

Please join me hand to hand, and heart to heart. With persistence, together we will find our hope of a Safe, Healthy, and Happy community in the near future.

My goal is “Making a difference one step at a time” until I can bring the Healthy Community concept into Arcadia and help our residents regain the safe, healthy and happy life style we all want.

Sincerely.  Jolly Wu - Candidate for City Council District 5
